Writing nonfiction for an audience requires craft and vision. Perhaps you wish to turn your journals into memoir or write articles about fascinating people and places for publication. Employing lessons drawn from his career and MFA education, André helps demystifies the nonfiction storytelling process in a series of workshops that help writers transport ideas to the page with the eventual goal of finding and entertaining readers. The process begins at the sentence level then launches into concept.
A four-week workshop geared toward the new or rusty nonfiction writer. Weekly in-class and self-directed exercises employ literary and journalistic techniques that will help the student see, think, and create as a writer. Class time includes reading discussion, writing time, craft lecturing, and feedback. Students will work toward composing a short narrative sketch by session’s end.
